Leo Baeck Institute and the Manhattan School of Music invite you to attend the New York Premiere of the film Adventures in Listening: Kurt Masur.
Conductor Kurt Masur, who accepted the Leo Baeck Medal on November 9, and the film’s Director Amit Breuer will attend the screening.
Maestro Masur, one of the world’s great conductors, challenges the next generation of young musicians and conductors by stretching their limits, their perspectives and abilities. The film highlights some of Maestro Masur’s masterclasses around the world, interweaving teaching with life experiences to develop a comprehensive portrait of one of the most respected conductors of our time.
In the film, Masur moves easily between different locations and cultures. We travel from Breslau (Wroclaw) Poland, to Brieg – a short distance from Masur’s beloved childhood home; from Campos De Jordao, Brazil, to New York’s Manhattan School of Music, capturing intimate moments with students who cherish their access to the great Maestro.
Adventures in Listening captures the mysterious power of the conductor and the psychology and emotional depth of the art of conducting the magic that connects music with musicians and audiences worldwide.
