Holbein Verlag AG

Hermann Loeb founded the Holbein Verlag AG after he arrived in Basel in 1933. Friends helped him establish the business. In contrast to most other Jewish émigrés Loeb could join the Swiss bookseller association in 1936.

Loeb already had experience in the publishing business. In Germany he was the owner of the Prestel Verlag, which published facsimile folders in cooperation with museums for wealthy collectors, researchers, and institutes.
