Humanitas Verlag
Simon Menzel founded the Humanitas Verlag in Zurich in 1934, but did not start working until March 1935. He and his wife managed the company from their apartment. Their goal was to give important writers who could not publish in Germany anymore a stage to publish their works. In 1942 he lost the management authorization.
After the second World War, Menzel and his wife founded the Diana Verlag in Zurich in 1947 which on the one hand revived the tradition of the Humanitas Verlag and on the other hand focused on English literature. Today the Diana Verlag belongs to Random House.
