Jacob Gesang
Jacob Gesang founded a publishing house and bookstore in Shanghai in 1939. When all stateless refugees had to move to a ‘Ghetto’ within three month in February 1943, Gesang had to close his business. He and his wife stayed in Shanghai until 1947.
Gesang was formerly director of the bookstore and publishing house “C. Boas Nachf.” beginning in 1911. During the November pogrom his bookstore was destroyed. The remaining books had to be sold to the Juedischen Kulturbund, eliminating the business.
