Research Inquiries
The LBI does not accept
research requests by telephone. All requests must be in writing and
must include the inquirer's name and address. The LBI
provides reference services to patrons both in the reading
room of the Center for Jewish History and through mail or
email. Family
research questions are handled by the Family
Research Program.
Please search the
online catalog first. If you have research questions that can
not be answered by using the online catalog, write the Institute
with your question. For better results, include specific subjects,
proper names, or organization titles with your request and, if
known, the call number of the collection (AR XXXX).
Note, though, that the
LBI is unable to perform research for you and may only determine
what materials we hold that are pertinent to your request.
Please be patient. The
average response time for inquiries is 1-3 weeks (this includes
e-mail inquiries). At its discretion, the Institute will not fulfill
inquiries that it deems unreasonable.
