Monday, December 12, 2011, 7:00 pm German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle will award the Leo Baeck Medal to Anselm Kiefer and bestow a special honor on Dr. Henry A. Kissinger. The presentation will take place during the annual Leo Baeck Institute Gala Award Diner at the Waldorf≈Astoria in New York.

Maestro Alan Gilbert, Music Director of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, presented the Leo Baeck medal to Maestro Masur.

German conductor Kurt Masur accepted the Leo Baeck Medal on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Maestro Masur is one of the most widely acclaimed musicians of his generation and played a key role in the peaceful revolution that toppled the East German regime in 1989.
