    Baton presented to Louis Schlottmann (1826-1905), conductor:

    Conductor's baton of a black plastic-like material, with a spiral of silver leaves. Each end has elaborately wrought caps in silver. The top cap of the baton is engraved with an inscription: 'Der Lyrische Chor-Verein seinem Dirigenten, L. Schlottmann, 7. Januar 1871’.

    The case is leather, lined in silk and purple velvet, with a clasp.

Biographical/Historical Information

The composer and pianist Louis Schlottmann was born in Berlin in 1826. He performed in Berlin, London, and in other places, and in 1875 he was honored with the title “Königlicher Musikdirektor" ("Royal Music Director”). Louis Schlottmann died in Berlin in 1905.
