    Maltese cross with crossed swords awarded to Hans David Froehlich. Recto: Center medallion contains an ornate "L," the cipher of King Ludwig II with the word "MERENTI" in the surrounding ring. Verso: Center medallion features a Bavarian lion with the founding date of the award, "1866", in the surrounding ring. A white ribbon with blue and black stripes is included, indicating wartime service. Stored in original box, with the award name (abbreviated in German) and class on front.

Biographical/Historical Information

The Bavarian Military Merit Cross was awarded for bravery and merit. It was established in 1866 and became obsolete after World War I in 1918, although it was still in process through 1920.
