Biographical/Historical Information

The German rabbi and historian Meyer Kayserling was born in Hanover in 1829. After academic studies at the universities in Halle and in Berlin, and rabbinic studies in Nikolsburg and Prague, Kayserling worked as preacher and rabbi in Endingen, Switzerland and in Budapest. He became widely known as the author of many works on Judaism and was particularly praised for his works on Spanish Jewry and the Marranos. Meyer Kayserling died in Budapest in 1905.

Aladár Gárdos (1878-1944) was a Hungarian artist and sculptor.
