Born in Hamburg, Eva Hesse (1936–1970) came with her family to Washington Heights in 1939 and became one of America’s foremost postwar artists. Washington Heights-native and acclaimed sculptor Tobi Kahn will join Hesse’s sister, Helen Charash, to discuss the artist’s refugee upbringing and her lasting legacy.
