Oskar Cassel (1849-1923) was the chairman of the Verband der Deutschen  Juden [Alliance of German Jews]. The organization’s aim was to represent Jewish concerns and demands to the German government, particularly in regard to discriminatory practices aimed against Jews. Cassel was a liberal politician and lawyer, member of the Prussian Parliament, and an ardent advocate in the fight against anti-Semitism.
