Jette Lichtenhein (née Rée) was born in Altona, Germany in 1789. It may be assumed that she was a cousin of the merchant and philanthropist Philip Hartvig Rée, who was born in Fredericia, Denmark in 1778. Both of them were grandchildren of Jetl (Gittel).
