Biographical/Historical Information

Mary Wigman (born Karoline Sophie Marie Wiegmann), a famous exponent of modern dance, studied with Jaques Dalcroze. She founded the Wigmann School in Dresden, Germany.

Lasar Segall, born in Wilna, Lithuania, was a member of the post World War I expressionist group in Germany. From 1923 he was active in Brasil, where he died in 1957 in Sao Paulo.
