Biographical/Historical Information

Hugo Krayn was born on February 5, 1885 in Berlin. He was a German painter, and since 1915, a member of the Berlin Secession. Krayn attended the Berliner Kunstgewerbeschule (Berlin school of arts and crafts), and from 1905 to 1910, became a pupil of Emil Orlik by taking his book arts and graphic design classes. Krayn exhibited his work at the Berlin Secession as well at the Deutscher Künstlerbund (Association of German Artists). In 1918, he exhibited at the Grosse Kunstausstellung (Great Art Exhibition) in Wiesbaden. Most of his paintings were destroyed in an air raid on Berlin during World War II, some of them belong to private art collectors. Hugo Krayn died in Berlin on January 25, 1919.
