Biographical/Historical Information

A shofar is an animal horn used as a musical instrument. Since early Biblical times, the shofar was blown to announce the beginnings of religious holidays, ceremonies, sacrifical rites, and even battle. Today, the shofar is sounded most commonly at Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
