Biographical Information

Gustav Hess (1874-1940) was a farmer and politician from Coburg. Hess was the father of Albert G. Hess. This portrait may have been painted in Dresden. More about the sitter will be revealed as the archival collection is processed.

August Wilckens (1870-1939) was a German painter. He went to school and worked in Germany and in Denmark; he was especially known for painting genre and landscape scenes from the Danish area of Fanø.
