Biographical/Historical Information

The Yiddish author Sholem Asch (Schalom Ash) was born in Poland in 1880, where he spent most of his life, writing novels, theater plays and numerous essays. After the outbreak of World War II, Sholem Asch spent most of his time in the United States, traveling frequently to Israel (Bat Yam) and to London, where he died in 1957.
