Biographical/Historical Information
Rabbi Seckel Bamberger was born in Swabia in 1863 and became known as “the most orthodox Rabbi”and one of the most learned ones. He was the rabbi of the congregation in Bad Kissingen, Bavaria, since 1900 and initiated a program to provide spa treatment for children. His conflicts with the more liberal Chevrah Kadisha [Burial Society] led to his resignation in 1932. Rabbi Seckel Bamberger died in Bad Kissingen in 1934.
