Biographical/Historical Information

The rabbinical scholar, professor of classical and Hellenistic literature, and humanist philosopher Isaac Heinemann was born in Frankfurt/Main in 1876. In 1939, he went to Jerusalem, where he joined the Hebrew University. He was awarded the Israel Prize for Jewish studies in 1955. Isaac Heinemnn died in Jerusalem in 1957.
