Biographical/Historical Information
The author and scholar Micha Josef Berdyczewski was born in the Ukraine in 1865 into a family of Hasidic rabbis. He studied at the universities of Berlin, Breslau, and Bern, before settling in Berlin, where he wrote under the adopted surname Bin-Gorion in Hebrew, Yiddish, and German, particularly touching on pre-modern Jewish myths and legends. M.J. Berdyczewski died in Berlin in 1921.
