Biographical/Historical Information
The author Raoul Auernheimer was born in Vienna, Austria in 1876 (a nephew of Theodor Herzl). He studied law and worked as a court assessor, but embarked soon on a writing career, also serving in the Austrian PEN association as its president. In 1938, he was interned in Dachau, but released with the help of the author Emil Ludwig. Raoul Auernheimer emigrated to New York and died in Okland, CA in 1948.
