Biographical/Historical Information
The publisher and art dealer Bruno Cassirer was born in Breslau in 1872. Together with his cousin Paul Cassirer, they opened an art gallery in Berlin and became active in the Berlin Secession. While Paul remained with the gallery, Bruno founded a highly esteemed book publishing house. He escaped Nazi Germany to Britain in 1938; Bruno Cassirer died in Oxford, England in 1941.
