Biographical/Historical Information
The art historian and museum director Max Jakob Friedländer was born in Berlin in 1867. He was a specialist in Early Netherlandish painting and an important contributor to the Kupferstichkabinett at the Berlin Gemäldegalerie. He emigrated to the Netherlands in 1939. Max J. Friedländer died in Amsterdam in 1958.
