Biographical/Historical Information
The historian Peter Gay (né Fröhlich) was born in Berlin in 1923 and came to the United States via Cuba in 1941. As a cultural historian, he concentrated on the Enlightenment, Modernism and – as an admirer of Sigmund Freud – on “Psychohistory”. Peter Gay died in New York City in 2015.
