Biographical/Historical Information
The Austrian classical philologist and historian of ancient philosophy Theodor Gomperz was born in Brünn, Bohemia (Brno, Czech Republic) in 1832. He was an internationally highly esteemed scholar and served as a liberal member in Austria’s parliament. His biography was published by his son Heinrich Gomperz (1873-1942). Theodor Gomperz died in Baden bei Wien in 1912.
