Biographical/Historical Information

The writer and editor Franz Blei was born in Vienna in 1871. He studied political science, economics, and literature at the universities of Zurich and Geneva before embarking on a career with literary journals. Blei left Vienna in 1898 and spent time in the US, Germany, and Mallorca, before returning to Vienna in 1936. He emigrated to the US via Italy and France in 1938. Franz Blei died in Westbury, NY in 1942.
