Biographical/Historical Information

The physician Arthur Aron Kahn was born in Gross-Gerau, Hessen, in 1850. He studied medicine, graduating from the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin in 1886; he then practiced in Bonn. From 1889 to 1900, Kahn lived and practiced in the United States. After his return to Germany, he practiced in Bonn, before settling in Berlin in 1903, where Kahn became an active member in the Jewish congregation in Berlin-Charlottenburg. He also was a frequent contributor of stories and non-fiction articles to German-Jewish periodicals. His fictional writings generally concerned traditional Jewish life during the 19th century, in small Jewish communities along the Rhine. Arthur Kahn died in Berlin in 1928.
