Biographical/Historical Information

The violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler was born in Vienna in 1875. He served in the Austrian army in World War I., and he emigrated to the United States where he was naturalized in 1943. Kreisler composed many original violin pieces, including “Caprice Viennois”, the string quartet “Schön Rosmarin”, and the operetta Apple Blossoms (1919). Fritz Kreisler died in New York in 1962.
