Biographical/Historical Information

The synagogue of the Jewish community in the town of Hohenems (Vorarlberg, Austria) was the most significant baroque synagogue in Austria. It was consecrated in 1772; functioned as a Jewish praying center until 1942, when the last Jews from Hohenems were deported to Theresienstadt, and then served as a municipal fire station.
