Biographical/Historical Information
The painter Hans Jacoby was born in Dresden in 1900. In 1938, he left Germany for Holland where he was interned as an illegal refugee at a camp in Hoek van Holland. From 1940 to 1947, he lived in the Jewish Ghetto in Shanghai, China. After the war, Hans Jacoby settled in Florida, where he died in 1984.
