Biographical/Historical Information

The author and actor, Carl Rössler (Karl Roessler) was born in Vienna in 1864 and made his name in Munich with his novels and theater plays, such as the comedy “Die fuenf Frankfurter”, set in the Frankfurt Judengasse. After the Austrian Anschluss in 1938, Roessler settled in London, where he died in 1948.

The lawyer, journalist and author Ferdinand Kahn was born in Augsburg in 1886. In 1939, he emigrated to Los Angeles, where he worked for “Aufbau”, and he was active in the “Jewish Club of 1933”. Ferdinand Kahn died in Hollywood in 1951.
