Biographical/Historical Information
“Neue Synagoge” in Essen was erected in 1913 in Byzantine style. The building was severely damaged during Kristallnacht, but never completely destroyed.
“Jahrhunderbrunnen” (“Century’s Fountain”) was erected in 1902 on the 100th anniversary of Essen becoming a part of Prussia.
