Biographical/Historical Information

Rabbi David Jacob Simonsen, a scholar of oriental languages, was born in Copenhagen in 1853. He graduated as a rabbi from the Jewish Theological Seminary in Breslau, and he served as chief rabbi of Denmark from 1821 to 1902 and again in 1919/20. Rabbi David Jacob Simonsen died in Copenhagen in 1932.
