Biographical/Historical Information

The first synagogue in Regensburg was consecrated in 1227. Jews were expelled from Regensburg in 1519, and the synagogue was destroyed. Jews returned to Regensburg in 1669 but did not dedicate a synagogue until 1841. A new modern synagogue was built in 1912 and destroyed in Kristallnacht in 1938.
