Biographical/Historical Information
The political philosopher and politician Friedrich Julius Stahl was born into a Jewish family in Würzburg in 1802. He converted to the Lutheran Church at age 17 and encompassed on a career as a jurist, eventually teaching constitutional and ecclesiastical law. He also was highly active in Prussian politics as a spokesman for a conservative (Christian) program before and after the 1848-revolution. Friedrich Julius Stahl died in Bad Brückenau, Bavaria, in 1861.
