Biographical/Historical Information
Nicholas Murray Butler (1862 – 1947) was an American educator, philosopher, diplomat, and an advocate of peace. He served as president of Columbia University (1902-1945), and in 1931 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with Jane Addams.
Ludwig Stein was a Hungarian born rabbi, philosopher, sociologist, and political journalist. He taught sociology at the University of Berne and resided in Berlin for more than twenty years.
