Biographical/Historical Information

Abraham ben Gedaliah Tiktin was scion of a rabbinic family from the town of Titkin (Tykocin, Poland) near Bialystok. Abraham ben Gedaliah was born at Schwersenz, Posen (Swarzędz, Poland) in ca. 1764. He served as rabbi in Glogau in Lower Silesia (Głogów, Poland), before being appointed by a royal decree Oberlandrabbiner of Silesia at Breslau (Wrocław, Poland). Rabbi Titkin died in Breslau in 1820. Only one of his many writings has been published.
