Biographical/Historical Information
The Austrian author Stefan Zweig – born in Vienna, 1881 - was one of the most read and appreciated writers in Europe during his lifetime. Exiled in Brazil and in despair about the state of the world, Stefan Zweig and his wife Charlotte née Altmann took their own lives in Petropolis near Rio de Janeiro in 1942.
