Biographical/Historical Information

The German businessman and poet Hugo Jacobi was born in Strassburg in 1882. He moved to Berlin after World War One, working for the German government. After exiles in France and New York, he settled in Zurich, where he died in 1954. In his last will and testament, Hugo Jacobi endowed the “Hugo-Jacobi-Preis” for young authors, “struggling for style and existence”.
