Biographical/Historical Information
The journalist, historian, and professor Walter Laqueur was born in Breslau in 1921.He emigrated to Palestine in 1938, and after studies at Hebrew University and membership in various Kibbutzim, he worked for the Hashomer Hatzair newspaper, “Mishmar”. Laqueur moved to England in 1955, where he became an important political commentator about Zionism, the Middle East, and the aftermath of the Holocaust. He also taught at various universities in the U.S. Walter Laqueur died in Washington D.C. in 2018.
