Biographical/Historical Information

Lea (Lisa) Asher, née Lewin was born in Nevel, Russia in 1907; she later lived in Leipzig and London before immigrating to New York in 1940, where she died in 1992. Lea Asher was the wife of the Austrian born art director George H. Asher, who hosted the Oskar Maria Graf Stammtisch in New York after Graf’s death in 1967.

The photographer Fred Stein was born in Dresden in 1909; he died in New York in 1967.
