Biographical Information

The German-born Swiss poet and novelist, Hermann Hesse was born in Calw, Baden-Wuerttemberg in 1877. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1946. Hermann Hesse died in Montagnola near Lugano, Switzerland in 1962.

The Swiss sculptor, Otto Charles Bänninger (1897 –1973) was born in Zürich.
