Biographical/Historical Information
The renowned publisher Samuel Fischer was born in Liptau-Sankt-Nikolaus (Liptovský Mikuláš), Slovakia in 1859. He learned the trade of a bookseller in Vienna before moving to Berlin, where he established the publishing house “S. Fischer Verlag” in 1886. Samuel Fischer died in Berlin in 1934.
Suse Byk was one of the leading photographers for portraits in Berlin in the 1920s.
