Biographical/Historical Information

The composer Paul Hindemith was born in Hanau in 1895. After an acclaimed career in Germany, he lived and worked in the U.S. to protect his Jewish wife throughout the 1940s. Paul Hindemith died in Frankfurt in 1963.

The pianist and composer Paul Aron was born in Dresden in 1886; he died in New York in 1955.
