Biographical/Historical Information

Thomas Mann (6 June 1875 – 12 August 1955) was one of the most influential German novelists. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1929.

The author and translator Hans Reisiger was born in Breslau in 1884. He worked in Bavaria, Austria and Switzerland, and spent the Nazi years in Berlin, although his friend Thomas Mann offered him to sponsor his emigration to the U.S. Hans Reisiger died in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1968.
