Biographical/Historical Information

The poet Marianne Dora Rein was born in Genoa in 1911. In 1917, she moved with her mother to Würzburg, Germany, where she attended a Jewish day school. Her poems and other writings found interest with the German author Jakob Picard, with whom she corresponded extensively. In 1941, while working in a Jewish old-age-home, she was deported to Riga, where she perished.
