Biographical/Historical Information

The radiochemist Georg von Hevesy was born in Budapest. He studied at universities in Budapest, Berlin, and Freiburg, where he also taught. Hevesy worked at various universities in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and in the United States; he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1943. Georg von Hevesy died in Freiburg in 1966.
