Biographical/Historical Information

The physicist and astronomer Arno Allan Penzias was born in Munich in 1933. He escaped Nazi Germany to Britain with the help of Kindertransport and eventually joined his parents in New York, where he embarked on a career in cosmology and radiation. He helped to establish the Big Bang theory of cosmology and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1978.
