Biographical/Historical Information
Otto Stern was born in 1888 in Sohrau (now Żory) in Upper Silesia. He taught at the University of Hamburg before immigrating to Pennsylvania, where he taught at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He was awarded the 1943 Nobel Prize in Physics. Otto Stern died in Berkeley, California in 1969.
