Biographical/Historical Information
The mathematician and electrical engineer Charles (Karl) Proteus Steinmetz was born in Breslau in 1865. He was considered a genius in electronics and held over 200 patents. Because of his socialist politics, Steinmetz escaped from Germany to Zurich and then on to the U.S. Charles Proteus Steinmetz died in Schenectady, New York in 1923.
